These beans didn't get smash for they were so good. That I just fry hamburger meat season with garlic salt and add beans to meat. I did add tablespoon of bacon grease at the start of cooking than after 4 hour of cooking check taste. Decided to add one chicken bouillon cube, some whole mexican oregano, and that cup of water. Also cook on high 4 hours and low for 2 hours .

My son loves refried beans and wanted me to make a more authentic bean dip. This recipe fit the bill. I did make some small changes. I reduced the salt but added chicken bouillon for added flavoring. I also added 2 tsp of olive oil. When it was done cooking I put the beans (onions, garlic, jalepenos) through the food processor for a smooth consistency. It was more like our favorite restaurant. Easy enough and delicious!

I used canned beans if I run out of time. I am allergic to soybean oil so this is a great alternative to store bought. Good, easy to make, thanks!

This seems like just a quick and easy way to throw together a nondescript side dish. But these will surprise you. They may become the star of your dinner like they did mine. Of course, refried beans are never pretty, but these have an absolutely beautiful texture. Delicious!

Easy, good tasting refried bean recipe that is a better alternative than canned beans and taste better than a lot of restaurant refried beans. Goes well with the other Mexican dishes I have tried from allrecipes.com.

I needed a quick burrito filling and decided to try this recipe. Started cooking at noon - ready by 4:30. I did not have dried beans so I used one can of pinto and one can of black beans, drained and rinsed. I used 1 small onion, 1 T jalapeno from a jar, 1 T minced garlic, 1 tsp ground black pepper, only used 1 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp cumin. I used only 1 cup of liquid which was chicken broth. I put all in my crock pot on high for 4 hours then just mashed everything right in the crock because the liquid to bean ratio was just right. We ate at 5 and OH MY!! It was absolutely delicious!! I couldn't stop "sampling" them after they were mashed - So Yummy!! I will definitely try this recipe as written but for now I'm very happy with my results. Thank You - No need to ever buy refried beans again!!

WOW! I just made this recipe. These were great! The only changes I made were--I only used half an onion, I used half a can of green chilies, (I didn't have jalapeno), cut salt to 1 teaspoon and I tripled the cumin. YUM! I bought canned refried beans just in case. No need. I will donate them. I will be making them from scratch from now on. Thanks so much for the recipe!
