Raised Yeast Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees F to 115 degrees F)
  • 2 cups warm milk (110 to 115 degrees F)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let stand for 5 minutes. Beat in the milk, eggs and butter. Combine the flour, salt and baking soda; stir into yeast mixture just until combine. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
  2. Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown.
