This is made just like a traditional pecan pie, with the addition of chocolate chips. It is very fudgy. It is always the first dessert to go at our family's Thanksgiving!

The vanilla-flavored cream cheese layer is stirred up and spread over the bottom of a prepared deep-dish pie crust. Pecan halves are arranged on top, and then a sweet, thick mixture of corn syrup and chocolate is carefully poured over that. The pie is baked until set and served at room temperature.

This is the one pie that I always required my mom to make for the holidays. I would always want to cut into it right when it came out of the oven, but I would have to wait until after dinner! It is worth the wait!

When the pie is prepared, the cheesecake layer goes in first, then a sprinkling of pecans goes on top, followed by a sweet and spiced up egg and corn syrup concoction. When this pie emerges from the oven, the layers are, surprisingly, reversed.

Corn syrup makes this veritable pecan pie thick and sweet. Unsweetened chocolate makes it sensational. Serve warm or chilled.

Sweet, gooey and wonderful, this traditional pecan pie is subtly enhanced with unsweetened chocolate. It bakes in an hour and is perfect crowned with whipped cream and some shaved chocolate.
