Original Recipe Yield 9 x 13 inch cake
 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Directions

  1. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C ).
  2. Toss sugar, sifted flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon together in a large bowl.
  3. Fold in oil, eggs, chopped nuts, and pie filling. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until cake tests done.
