Directions

  1. Beat cream cheese spread with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add seasoning mix; beat until well blended. Spread onto bottom of 9 inch pie plate or quiche dish.
  2. Layer remaining ingredients over cream cheese mixture; cover.
  3. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Serve with tortilla chips.

I've always made mine with the cream cheese/taco season, a layer of salsa, and shredded cheese on top.. maybe some diced tomatos, but the added beans are good too!

Easy to change toppings to suit different tastes. I always made this with Hormel Chili No Beans instead of salsa, so I added both and it tasted good. If you make this on a pie plate, the cream cheese layer is a little thick. My advice is either to make the toppings thicker, or make it on a bigger surface to make sure that the ratio of cream cheese to other stuff is right. Another note about the cream cheese: make sure to leave the dip out for 10 minutes or so before serving it, other the cream cheese is stiff and will make your chips break.

I doubled the recipe, using 1 block reduced fat and one block fat free cream cheese. I also mixed in low fat sour cream for added flavor. I topped it with chopped tomato too. Rather than olives, I used jalepenos!! It was devoured at a party!

YUM YUM YUM. Made twice and everybody loves this recipe. The beans are a nice addition giving this recipe some "bulk" and texture. The taco seasoning is just the right amount for the 8 oz. cream cheese. I used 1/3 reduced fat CC and you would never know. Really good, quick and easy. Thanks - will make often.

Being the cream cheese nut that I am, this recipe is one of my fave mexican dishes. I can never get enough mexican dip. This recipe was a winner at my house, it was so good, I had to make a second helping.
