A beloved memory from long-gone dim sum restaurants in Hawaii, these cookies contain no almonds, but have the taste of almonds in a fat, round little cookie with a traditional red dot in the middle.

Mother prepared these soft cookies for holidays and special-occasion meals. My seven siblings and I gobbled them up as fast as she made them. I still can't resist the cinnamon-sugar coating. --Jerri Moror, Rio Rancho, New Mexico

This a fantastic old-fashioned sugar cookie recipe that is not as sweet as others that I have used. They complement a powdered sugar icing without being overly sweet. My favorite, and EASY!

These cookies are mixed differently from other cookies (like pie crust) but they are the best. These are the ones I grew up on. At Christmas my mom would add almond extract and green food color then make tree pattern.

This is a Dutch buttery bar cookie, baked in a round tin, and cut into wedges after baking. Instead of vanilla or lemon zest, you can flavor these with 4 ounces of ground almonds.

This is a Spanish cookie recipe that was given to me from my aunt who was from Spain. The cookies need to cook in a very slow oven as you do not want to brown them.
