dried parsley flakes

pizza sauce, divided
This was my first attempt at making calzones and I'm pleased to say that it was a huge success! Before I mention my tweeks, I'd like to review the hot Italian Johnsonville Ground Sausage. It was absolutely delicious! No greasiness and very generous with the grind, not too fine. I had three of my teachers do a taste test and they all agreed that the Johnsonville sausage was superior to othe sausages. They all had heard and/or used the brand. My tweeks for personal preference only: generously doubled the spices, used my homemade sourdough pizza dough, used our favorite Exquisite Pizza Sauce (AR)and added fontina cheese to the mix. Served sauce on the side for dipping. Excellent! Will make again.
These were tasty! I browned off some Mild Johnsonville Ground Sausage, made my own dough (I used the Garlic Lover's Pizza Dough for the Bread Machine recipe - also from this site), and also made the Exquisite Pizza Sauce recipe from this site for the sauce. Served them with a nice tossed salad for a great Friday night dinner!
I used mild Italian Johnsonville sausage and it gave this just enough spice. This would be great with a variety of fillings. Delicious!
I made this tonight and thought it was very good! I did tweak it a bit -- I crumbled and browned the sausage and added chopped green pepper and chopped mushrooms. I also made the dough myself from one of those packets of pizza dough mix. The seasoning and hot Italian sausage were spot-on. Thanks!
