I have made this according to recipe and I ended up with turkey so salty it kept us up all night. What did I do? Someone suggested that I should have rinsed it before smoking, but the recipe didn't call for that. Help!

Amazing!! Cooked a 14 lb turkey yesterday and it came out awesome. I brined it for two days like the recipe said. When I was ready to cook it I put two sticks of butter with rosemary, and thyme. Mixed it up and put it all over the turkey. So juicy. I will use this brine every time for turkey. Thank you so much.

I did this for Thanksgiving last year and it has lead to me always doing the turkey for the holiday. I also then followed the Alton Brown method of cooking and trussing the bird.

I have used this recipe 3 years in a row. I just made it again today. This plus Alton Brown's turkey recipe = the best! My 72 year old father-in-law said it was the best turkey he's EVER eaten! I lovingly get teased from my mother-in-law about it every year! I use a cleaned out ice chest and cover the top layer in 3" of ice cubes and store it outside (I live in the NW and the outdoors keeps it cold).

This will be my third Thanksgiving using this recipe. Makes the turkey extremely moist. I know it seems like the turkey would be salty, but it's not! Even if you only have 1 day to soak the turkey, it will turn out great.
