This was an amazing dish! I chose this for the Allstars fall comfort food makeover recipe. I substituted Johnsonville breakfast sausage for the bacon. I followed the recipe with the exception that I used all homemade broth (5 cups)and not the water. It was a very nice change in place of sausage stuffing. We will be having this again. I can also see adding some zucchini or other veggies to make a complete meal out of this. Husband snagged the leftovers for lunch - lucky guy!

This was awesome. Adding the seasonings to the veggies before adding the liquid really makes a difference. I halved the recipe and it worked just fine. I just used oregano, basil and thyme for the Italian seasoning. I usually have my own blend sitting around, it's Italian Seasoning II on this site, but didn't have any mixed up at the time. I will definitely make this again. It was a great complement to pork chops that also had Parmesan and Italian type seasonings and green beans with red bell peppers and shallots.

Excellent flavor--something different to add if you find your dinners each week begin to resemble each other. I also found that you will need to simmer the orzo longer than the suggested 8-10 minutes, or simply turn up the heat to get the liquid to absorb a bit quicker. For my liking, I scaled down the amount of bacon, mushrooms and onion.

Excellent! SO full of flavor. A little more prep than most simple pasta dishes but worth the extra minutes. I used fresh herbs, and an orzo blend. Forgot the Parmesan but it wasn't missed. So sad it is not longer part of AR's repertoire.

I just made this and WOW was it delicious! Aside from me adding a pinch too much salt (I forgot that the bacon would salt it up pretty good), my family really enjoyed it and said it's definitely a keeper! This was enough for about 8 servings.

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes. It is so easy to make and very flavorful. I used already cooked bacon and added some fresh chopped spinach. Wonderful!

Absolutely awsome recipe! Plenty of flavor without being overpowering. Perfect side dish that everyone (even the kids!) will love.
