Original recipe makes 12 servings Change Servings

1/2 cup hot fudge ice cream topping, warmed
1 (8 ounce) tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
1 (3.9 ounce) package JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

8 OREO Cookies, chopped
12 vanilla ice cream sandwiches

Directions

Pour fudge topping into medium bowl. Whisk in 1 cup COOL WHIP. Add dry pudding mix; stir 2 min. Stir in chopped cookies.
Arrange 4 ice cream sandwiches, side-by-side, on 24-inch-long sheet of foil; top with half the COOL WHIP mixture. Repeat layers. Top with remaining sandwiches. Frost top and sides with remaining COOL WHIP. Bring up foil sides; double fold top and ends to loosely seal packet.
Freeze 4 hours or until firm.

I made this for fathers day. My husband liked it very much. Its definitly cheaper than those boughten cakes, but I found it very rich! I would like more ice cream flavor to come thru and I have figured a way to do that next time. I would also like to try the berry oreos with strawberry topping. I made this one with minty oreos and that was good.

I've made this cake twice within the last 2 weeks for my sons birthdays. The only thing I altered was to add some crushed oreos on top of the cool whip as a garnish...more oreos never hurt anything! This is very simple to put together and is 10 times better than the store bought i/c cakes (not to mention much cheaper)! The fudge filling is excellent. I would highly recommend this cake.
