Onion-Topped Chicken Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 1)

I didn't cook this with the potatoes because other reviews said they didn't cook all the way but instead cooked a couple extra pieces of chicken with the sauce and served over mashed potatoes and it turned out good and it was very easy.

This was pretty good and very easy. It reminded me very much of Party Chicken that I have had minus the dried beef and bacon. I didn't have any potatoes but I put two cups of thawed frozen hashbrowns in the bottom of my casserole dish. I also didn't have any french fried onions so I sauteed half an onion and put it in the soup/sour cream mixture (which is what they do in the Party chicken recipe). I added a little milk to the soup mixture as well so that when it cooked it would seep down into the potatoes. About half way through it looked like it was starting to burn so I covered it with tin foil. It didn't look very appetizing (I guess the french fried onions hide that) and the chicken was kinda dry. I only baked it for 1 hour and 1/4. Will try a little less time next time and add in some bacon.

UGH!!! Hard potatoes are not at all appetizing and I sliced them rather than quartering. And the cream soup on top look awful when I took it out of the oven.

It took alot longer to get the potatoes tender then what the recipe calls for. My husband really enjoyed this, I thought it was missing something. I will make it again because it's a good base recipe.

Chicken was very tasty! However the potatoes were undercooked, next time I would cut them into smaller chunks, or slice them up instead. I also sprinkled some paprika on top of the chicken & potatoes before the sauce to add a little extra flavour.

Good recipe, will make again! The potatoes needed alot longer to cook, so next time I would quarter them. I did add an 1/8 tsp of salt, pepper, thyme and rosemary (sprinkled) over the chicken prior to topping with soup. Chicken was very moist and tender.
