Original recipe makes 1 cup Change Servings

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, slowly cook and stir the onions and butter until onions are tender, approximately 10 minutes.
  2. Mix red wine vinegar, salt, ground black pepper and white sugar with the onions and butter. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture thickens to a chunky, spreadable consistency, about 10 minutes. Refrigerate until serving.

This was good. I served this relish with hot dogs. It added nice variety to our cookout. The onions took much longer to soften than the directions indicated and were still chunky (not really spreadable) when finsihed.

Delicious and easy - if your family likes onions this is wonderful - I made a Roast Beef and served this on the side. It says a serving for 8 - well my guy LOVES onions - so it served 2 of us -it was that good!

This is a must for onion lovers! So simple to make and tastes great with burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc. Make a batch, put it in a jar, and watch it disappear.

Great flavor and so easy... I'm going to make a lot of this and keep it in the fridge. My husband especially loved it!
