Oat-rageous Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup English toffee bits or almond brickle chips

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars. Beat in egg, water and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  2. Drop by tablespoonfuls 3 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.

I didn't have cranberries so used raisens instead and don't like nuts. These are so so good!!
