The dear friend who shared this recipe has since passed away, but I think of her every time I prepare this sweet bread. Maple syrup provides a saucy caramel flavor. I enjoy developing original recipes or altering others to suit my tastes.

THE INGREDIENTS for this recipe are so simple and the results so spectacular, I'm always willing to share the secret. It's actually a variation of a doughnut recipe I made years ago, using refrigerated biscuits. The best part of having this bread is tearing it apart and eating it warm. -Evelyn Kenney, Hamilton, New Jersey

THIS BREAD is wonderful for a brunch or luncheon menu. My family and friends loved it and just had to have the recipe. The custard texture makes it very different. Served with a tossed salad and dessert, it could even make a light meal. -Joan Kinsinger, Utica, New York

I very rarely make special trips to the store for one or two forgotten groceries. I prefer to 'wing it' in the kitchen. It was during one of those cooking experiments that I created this variation of honey nut bread.

To dress up plain recipes, I'll toss a bit of bacon into the mix, just like I did here. I'm always pleased with the results! Pieces of this hearty bread are almost a meal in themselves.

Belle Plaine, Iowa's June Formanek sends a fruity streusel-topped bread delightful for brunch. This is a great make-ahead treat that freezes well, too.

I serve this rich cake-like bread and its creamy chocolate honey butter often at Christmastime. It makes a great brunch item, but it also goes well on a dinner buffet. This recipe won me a 'Best in Category' award in a local cooking contest. -Patrice Bruwer, Grand Rapids, Michigan

I developed this recipe to take advantage of our wonderful Georgia peaches. My husband, Andy, says it tastes just like peach cobbler.
