Yum! Everyone loved these! Followed the recipe with the exception of using almonds in place of the pecans (family pref). Great combination of flavors and textures. The best description I can come up with is a gooey snickerdoodle chewy brownie. Really good! Will be a repeat!
I just had these at a church potluck...WOW! I asked for the recipe right away! They are the perfect combination of caramel and "blondie" type brownie.
These got decent reviews, having a nut allergy I can't say if they were good or not, but people went back for seconds. Followed recipe exactly.
I made these yesterday and was not overly fussy. The caramel goes really hard after they cool. I used baking caramel bits instead of square caramels, but that shouldn't make difference. I made no changes.
Not something I will prob make again..
This was good, but not as exciting as I'd hoped. It turned out well following the directions. I swapped walnuts for pecans, since that's what I had on hand. The caramels melted after 2 minutes (stirring after each minute, as stated in the recipe). It needed about 30 seconds to a minute of stirring the second time to fully dissolve, but I didn't want to microwave it more and end up with a crunchy dessert, as one reviewer had. (Though, I had a thought that if using caramel bits, you probably wouldn't want to microwave nearly as long.) I pulled it out of the oven when it looked maybe just under-cooked if it were a cheesecake in the middle--set but not firm, with some jiggle to it still. It needed a while to cool before being able to pull it out of the pan using the foil to then remove it from the foil and cut it.
