Stumbled upon this recipe on 5/17. Made the first batch that night. I have made 4 more batches since......IT IS THAT GOOD!! Thanks GrammaBeni! You rock! It is perfect exactly as it is, no changes necessary. The best dressing we have ever had! Try and find this in the store...
I had such high hopes for liking this recipe. I made 1/2 of the recipe and followed the instructions exactly as written. The dressing was dark, sweet, thick and creamy but the aftertaste of garlic was just too overpowering. I may try it again and use less fresh garlic. Thank you for sharing your recipe GrammaBeni. This was the AR Buzz Recipe Group Selection for the week of May 17, 2014.
Recipe Group Selection: 17, May 2014 ~ My husband and I really enjoyed this dressing. I started with a half-batch to see if we would like it. We did, and that small portion disappeared quickly, so I made another half batch. We love the taste of balsamic vinegar and liked that you could detect the flavor in this dressing. For us, this was a hit and I will be making it again. Thanks, GrammaBeni for sharing your recipe.
RECIPE GROUP: We enjoyed this very much. I used garlic powder (about 1/4 tsp for a half batch) but otherwise stuck to the recipe. I would say a half recipe would cover 4 or 5 bowls of salad if you like it pretty saucy!
Recipe Group 5/17,2014 - This is a recipe I will keep on file because it is different and would be a good thing to take when you think everyone is bringing the same thing. I made 1/4 of the recipe because I was not sure how well I would like it. I am glad I did not make more, it is too much of a good thing. Too much balsamic vinegar, too much maple. I might use less of each when I make it again.
Recipe Group selection for May 17, 2014 - This dressing would be especially nice with salads that have fruit as an ingredient. If you like sweet dressings, you will like this.
I had this salad dressing in Vermont when visiting and couldn't find a recipe for it. This dressing is fantastic! Great with a spinach and romaine mix. Thank you.
