Lisa's Italian Nachos

"Very easy to make and very tasty! I tried these at an Italian festival; they were very good, but they needed a little something more to them. So I added more ingredients, which makes them even better! You can substitute mozzarella or provolone cheese for the feta, or use a combination of the three."

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, and add the Italian sausage, sliced pepperoni and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook and stir until the sausage is well browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes. Drain fat from skillet. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and salsa. Cook until meat and sauce are hot, about 5 minutes.
  2. Spread the tortilla chips on a very large platter. Spoon the hot meat sauce evenly over the chips and top with the feta cheese, chopped onions, jalapenos, black olives, and sour cream.

This was an enjoyable twist on nachos. I made half with the feta and half with a Mexican cheese mix because my husband doesn't like "fetid" cheese. LOL. I love feta but prefered this recipe with the Mexican cheese mix myself. Either way, it's different and yummy.

This is so good! I was looking for something to make with leftover meat spaghetti sauce so I used that with salsa. I didn't have jalapenos or I'm sure it would have been even better. I did make it in 2 batches so I could get all the chips covered with the toppings. Otherwise I followed the recipe. Everyone gobbled them up. This will definitely become a regular in my kitchen!
