Ok. I have to admit that a few days ago, I had never heard of lemon bars. I looked up a recipe, to make for a friend of mine. Needless to say, this is my first attempt to make them. I usually start off first time doing the recipe just as given and then next time modifying according to my taste (if needed). However, based on these reviews I went ahead and made 1.5 amount of the filling. It took me 5 lemons to get enough lemon juice. I even added 2 limes.
I baked the crust for 15 minutes and with the filling about 22 minutes. If anything, I found that there should of been just an inch more of the crust dough. It took me awhile and effort to cover the whole 9x13 pan.
Even though, I'm more of a chocolate person, I liked the taste of these. With 5 lemons and 2 limes, it surely came out lemony enough. Very good. I will make it again.
I'd suggest to let it cool down completely, before you cut it, if the sharp clean edges are important to you (for presentation). Also, based on the photos, I noticed that people might not know that you should shift the powdered sugar on top of these-once it's completely cooled.
I'd recommend it!
