Italian Sausage Delight!

"My husband who loves Italian dishes was getting bored with the same ones, so I made this one day for dinner and the whole family loved it! I hope you will too!"

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add penne pasta, and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.
  2. Place the Italian sausage links in a small skillet over medium heat. Cook, turning occasionally until firm and cooked through.
  3. In a separate larger skillet, combine the red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, and Italian dressing. Cook and stir until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Slice the Italian sausages into rounds, and stir into the vegetables. Continue to cook and stir for another 5 minutes.
  4. To serve, place servings of pasta onto plates. Top with the sausage and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle liberally with Parmesan cheese.

I tried this recipe for a pot luck dinner last night and it got rave reviews! I gave the recipe out to 2 different people. I only changed a few things - I added a can of crushed tomatoes and just a pinch of fresh basil. VERY delicious! A keeper for sure!

Yuck. I didnt like the dressing in this AT ALL. Ruined the whole thing in my opinion. Wont make it again. Just wasnt for me. Sorry.

I very cautious on the meals I prepare for my picky husband, but this is one dish he enjoyed! He came back for seconds and thirds. There is one or two things I would change though, I would add a little more italian dressing and intead of placing it over the pasta, I would combine it all and then add the parmesan cheese once you serve it onto the plates.... (you can even cut up the sausage) I will defintely make this again!

This was a great alternative the ho-hum of just sausage and peppers. I will be maikng this again only using more dressing and peppers..also next time I think I will try it with rice. Definitely a company loved it and so did my kids!!!

This dish was wonderful, a nice change from using sausage with tomato sauce base, the flavor was great, think I will add oregano and basil next time.

This was pretty good. You have to really like Italian Dressing though. I made a few changes. I used mild sausage that had been frozen. I semi defrosted it and sliced before cooking. Then I used fresh mushrooms and frozen combo of peppers and onions. I used Romano instead of parm, just because that's what I had. I also used tri colored rotini instead of penne for the same reason. tfs

Really good as is. I almost always tweak recipes, but I don't think this one needs a thing. My husband LOVED it.

I made this one strictly for my husband since I don't eat pasta. He said it was ok but don't bother making it again. He felt it was very bland. For the record I did add some garlic and oregano and extra Italian dressing. Also I mixed the noodles with the vegetables and sausage during the last few minutes of cooking. This was simple to make and does make a pretty presentation. I guess it just needs to be kicked up a notch flavorwise.
