Haighter's 19th Hole Chili

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground turkey in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease.
  2. Combine ground turkey, stewed tomatoes, celery, kidney beans, pinto beans, white onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, water, tomato paste, jalapeno pepper, sugar, and garlic in a slow cooker; season with chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook on High for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Haighter's 19th Hole Chili Haiku: "Hubs and daughter loved. To me, it was a bit 'yawn', and needed some jazz!" Halved the recipe for 1 lb. turkey, and used a can of black beans; kept the rest the same, but found that just chili powder, sugar, garlic s&p weren't quite enough to make this chili sing to me, so I added Chipotle Tabasco to mine, along w/ cheese and Fritos and was happier. Definitely liked it enough to make again, just w/ some additions.
