Grilled Country Ribs

By: Katie Sloan
"I never made barbecued ribs until I moved to the South. Now I have learned how to fix 'em tender and finger lickin' good. Everyone loves the tasty sticky sauce on these ribs. They're my favorite entree, served with slaw and baked beans."

Original Recipe Yield 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds country style pork ribs
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hot pepper sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard

Directions

  1. Place ribs in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 1-1/2 hours or until no longer pink. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute the onion and garlic in oil until tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
  2. Drain ribs. Grill, covered, over indirect low heat for 45 minutes, turning once. Baste with barbecue sauce. Grill 15 minutes longer or until meat is tender, turning and basting frequently.
