Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add gnocchi and cook until tender, 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, crumble the sausage into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain grease, and stir in the tomato sauce. Remove from heat, and carefully mix in the cooked gnocchi and half of the mozzarella cheese. Transfer to a casserole dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is bubbly.

Delicious. But 'd like to see if the gnocchi might be less soft and mushy if you just baked them in the sauce, etc without boiling first

For ease of preparation and a comfort food feel while using just a few ingredients, I'm giving it 5 stars. I found a whole wheat gnocchi with sweet potato from Italy in my supermarket. In the casserole it tasted just like the standard gnocchi made with white potatoes. Great for an easy weekday meal and I served with salad.

Very rich and hearty. I had potato parmesan gnocchi and Ragu tomato basil sauce to use. Quick and simple to get dinner on the table.

Popular with my 15-year old son. This was the first time we ever ate gnocci. He wants me to make it again.
