Excellent recipe. You might be inclined to want to take short cuts with cooking the chicken, but following the recipe results in crispy chicken that keeps its crispiness even for leftovers the next day. Worth the extra step of frying twice. I did try it by replacing the sugar with equal amount of orange marmalade and loved that too (although perhaps that makes it orange chicken?) At any rate, everyone loves it and says it tastes even better than the chinese restaurant. ok, perhaps they are just being kind, but this recipe is good enough that I've made it quite a few times with hardly any changes.
