I only had sugar-free peach Jell-o (R) on hand, so that I what I used. This was a light, refreshing salad that could be changed to whatever flavor of gelatin your family enjoys. We liked the zing that the lemon-lime soda added to this.

My grandmother introduced me to this refreshing salad, and now I've made it for years. Most of the time, I lighten it up by using no sugar added applesauce, sugar-free gelatin, diet soda, and crushed pineapple in its own juice. You can change up the flavor quite easily too by changing the gelatin. I've also successfully used apple juice, Mello Yellow, and ginger ale.

I used homemade applesauce, sugar free Jello and diet lemon lime soda. We thought this was great. Very easy to portion out and with a squirt of light whipped topping, this was a satisfying dessert.

I have to give full stars since I changed up the ingredients. Sorry. I was looking for last minute things to do for T-day and this was close to what I had....I did sugar free applesauce and 2 TBS sugar, 1pk reg. strawberry jello and 1 pkg sugar free mixed fruit, 12 oz ginger ale, 11 oz mandarin oranges (mashed). I messed up and was thinking it was two cans needed so I added just a tad more applesauce to make up the diff. UGGG It didn't set up firm firm but it's still YUMMY! Refreshing, it 'bursts' in your mouth! I WILL make again and this time follow the directions correctly THANK YOU for a refreshing palate cleanser with minimal ingredients!
