Fruit Cocktail Drop Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) can fruit cocktail, drained
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening, brown sugar and white sugar. Stir in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves, stir into the creamed mixture. Carefully fold in the raisins, fruit cocktail and nuts, try not to crush the fruit.
  3. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to12 minutes in the preheated oven.
