I added celery to it because I had some left in the fridge. I will be making this again, we liked it very much. Except I will cut the mustard in half. It was a little to much for me.

So Delicious! The mustard really gives it a unique and yummy kick!! I threw everything in my slow cooker (put a little olive oil on the bottom, put in the meat, sprinkled with flour). Cooked it on low for about 7 hours then stirred in the mustard just before serving! So good!

We really enjoyed this recipe, although I found the sauce/gravy a little runny and too plentiful. I used baby potatoes and added onion and garlic. I would add more meat next time. The mustard is a definite plus and I added a huge wallop of it! Yum!

This stew was fantastic! I followed the directions as is, except I left the skins on the potatoes for extra fiber. Thanks for sharing we love this with corn bread.

Followed the recipe. Mustard added an interesting new twist to it. I still felt it needed a little more taste so I added 2T worcestershire sauce. It gave it a lot of flavor. I'll probable use this recipe as a base and see what else I can do with it.

This was a really tasty stew. Just a little zing to it which livened it up. My husband loved it, and he is usually very picky. Will make this again for sure.

This beef was so tasty and tender! Great gravy from the seasonings in the tomatoes. Hope the people we're taking this to love it!

Combined ingredients (including a cheap cut of stew meat) and simmered for 2 hours as suggested by another member. My thought was to simmer for 2hrs so that the meat would be tender. The meat was fantastic- it was very tender! I liked the Italian tomatoes- could really taste their flavor, combined with the salt, pepper, garlic and thyme. Note, however, that the thick-cut carrots survived but the potatoes had dissolved after 2 hours of simmering! I didn't mind this- I thought the potatoes combined with the broth and thickened it nicely. My hubby thought it was terrible, tho, and barely ate his dinner. I will eat the leftovers by myself- there are worst things in the world I suppose. I still give this 4 stars. But next time I will use my head and add the potatoes 20 minutes before the cheap stew meat is done simmering in the "broth/Italian tomato/thick cut carrot/spice" mix.

This is really good and takes very little time to make. I only added one tablespoon of the mustard and I am glad I did because it added ALOT of flavor.

This turned out pretty good. The meat was very tender. I kept it on simmer for a couple of hours. Some might want to go easy on the dijon mustard because it is strong.

WOW, this is the best beef stew I've ever had. The only thing I did different was dissolved a beef boullion cube in 1 3/4 c water because I didn't have beef broth on hand. But followed the rest and the results were fabulous...smells awsome.

This recipe is magnifique! It's a fabulous base for people who are a little more creative and just needed that French inspiration. My notes: we used cubed, lean sirloin instead of chuck stew meat. Also browned it in olive oil instead of vegetable oil, which worked nicely with the spices in the canned tomatoes. Definitely recommend always seasoning your meat and continue seasoning your dish in layers. Started with garlic in the olive oil before adding the beef. The dijon mustard (used French Country from Grey Poupon) absolutely made this recipe. It was that extra something that kept my hubby guessing, and for us, the 2 tbsp was perfect! Served with crusty french bread and strong cheddar garnish. Thanks for a great stew!

I followed the recipe, other than to halve the carrots and adding canned green pease instead.

Browned then cooked in a Crockpot. This recipe is Perfect. I wanted something "different" then the stew I have made for years but also easy. This was both! I added some curry and ginger (took the idea from another recipe on this site), honey, and 2 Tbsp. Vinegar. skipped the veggies and served with bread sticks. It was GOOD!

This was good, but not great. I might need to try to cook it in the crockpot. I won't be making this again following this recipe.
