Fabulous Canned Fruit Frappes

Directions

  1. Freeze the can of fruit overnight or longer until frozen solid.
  2. Run the frozen can under hot, running water for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are thawed. (The contents will move when you shake the can.) Open the can and coarsely cut up the fruit in the can with a small knife; scoop into the blender. Add the remaining ingredients, cover blender and puree.
  3. Serve in chilled glasses.

  • For Vanilla Pear Frappe:
  • 1 can (15 1/4 ounces) sliced pears in juice
  • 1 1/2 cups pear nectar or unsweetened apple juice
  • 1 container (6 ounces) low-fat or non-fat vanilla yogurt
  • For Tangy Grapefruit Frappe:
  • 1 can (15 1/4 ounces) red grapefruit
  • 2 cups ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Very good! I was looking for a change from my normal bagged frozen fruit smoothie. So I used a can of maderine oranges some plain yogurt and some orange juice. I also used 2 teaspoons of vanillia in hopes that it would taste like a dreamcicle. Its pretty close! Great idea!

This recipe is sooooooooooo good and refreshing!

Good little drink. Vanilla yogurt was the most prominent taste, so I think I'll try plain if I make this again.
