Original Recipe Yield 2 - 3 dozen
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup crisp rice cereal
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine with the sugars. Beat in the egg.
  2. Add in the cream of tartar, oats, coconut, vegetable oil and vanilla. Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda and add to the mixture. Stir in crisp rice cereal and chocolate chips.
  3. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheets. Bake in a 350 degree F (175 degree C) oven for 12 minutes.
