JIF® Creamy Peanut Butter
rice wine vinegar
uncooked pasta twists
chopped red bell pepper
This is a quick and easy/cheap recipe to make with stuff that you usually can find in your pantry. The peanut flavor comes out tasting like an asian peanut sauce, so if you really don't like that, you probably want to steer away. The serving size is quite large...a pound of pasta, so if you're choosing this as a side better cut it in half.
So much to say, where to start? The ketchup part scared us and probably scared most people which is most likely why this recipe has never been rated.
This recipe makes far more than 4 servings - probably about 5 1/2 and if you planned on having a side dish, like we did, then you could probably cut the recipe in half.
The taste started to grow on me and my husband after awhile, but then shortly thereafer we got to the point where we just couldn't eat any more because the taste started to make us nauseous. He said you have to have an aquired taste for peanut butter and garlic. I personally think there's just way too much peanut butter. A whole cup is what it calls for. We used about 3/4 of a cup and it was still way too much, so be forewarned about that. If you don't like peanut butter this is not the recipe for you.
While it was interesting to branch out and try something new, we won't be making this again, and sadly ended up throwing most of it away. It literally churned our stomach after we ate about 3/4 of our servings.
I really like this recipe! But I did make a few changes. I used just over 1/2 cup peanut butter, and added more of the other ingredients and I also added cayenne pepper (all to taste).
I was optimistic about this recipe, but I was left disappointed. Way too much peanut butter! I added more of the other ingredients and lime juice as another reviewer had suggested and could hardly taste any of it! I'll try anything twice, so next time I will use 1-2 tablespoons of pb along with the rest of the ingredients. If this tells you anything, my picky 2 year old LOVED these noodles!
Have to disagree with earlier review--my son and I loved the peanut taste. I liked that it was no-cook, which made it a quick meal. Took one star off because I had to tweak the recipe a bit; added a little ginger powder, a few shakes of hot sauce, and a dribble of lime juice. Great idea, though.
This is PERFECT for my family! So easy to make! I used chunky peanut butter because I really like the crunch mixed in the with creamy pasta. I also added at least a 1/2 tsp. of ground ginger. So good! Any pasta works but I use Ramen just to save some money. The sauce is so flavorful that you don't need to have fancy, expensive pasta to enjoy it.
I really didn't care for this recipe.
