It's OK in a pinch, but nothing is going to come close to going through the effort of making the custard with eggs and cream. Don't be fooled by the 5* ratings that many users are giving this recipe--2.5* is reality here. I might make this again, but knowing the difference of a custard based recipe, it'll have to be a last-minute type of scenario. (used my kitchenaid ice cream maker attachment for this recipe).

Made it for a class party and it was a hit. So much easier than the custard I usually make, but just as good.

Kid friendly and over the top deeelish. My GK's, 8 and 11, look forward to whipping up a batch of this while I'm doing a batch of brownies or cookies. Great combination, BTW! Super easy, super good. Thank you!

Woo hoo! This is delish, and so easy. This was the first recipe I used in my new icecream maker, and it worked beautifully. I added 1/2 C Cocoa to make it chocolate.

I followed the recipe exactly and found it to be way too sweet for my tastes. Next time I will add at least a cup more of milk or half and half. I also will add a dash of salt to add to the flavor. It does have a really nice, smooth texture.

Good flavor but texture was not smooth and creamy - more icy and grainy. I even used our White Mountain 6qt Ice Cream Freezer. Probably won't make this recipe again.

Wow. I used 2 cups garelick half and half, 1 1/2 cup 2 percent milk, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/4tsp cinnamon sugar,condensed milk,1 tsp rum (so that when I freeze it it doesnt turn to ice) and vanilla. Yum.

Loved it! I made this in icecream maker last week, every drop was eaten. Made it again on new years day in a double batch same result. Didnt have icing issue, but i froze mine with the container covered. Reminded everyone of Chick-filas icecream.
