This was SOOO GOOOD !!! and so easy! I did triple the quantities as I had a dinner party for my sons engagement announcement! Started by suteeing my onions in a bit of butter and olive oil till they were fragrant, threw in a tsp of pre-minced cristopher farms ca. garlic, til it spoke up...then replaced the water component with low-sodium chicken broth, and brought some smoked ham shanks to boil til the meat fell off the bones, removed the bones, then boiled my potatoes and celery in that broth, and man! The whole house smelt so wonderful! Prepared my rue in a separate pan, with butter, flour and replaced CREAM for milk, and it was UNBELIEVEABLE !!! BEST SOUP EVER in my house! Kids were happy, Momma was happy---And Dad here was PROUD of his Son, and PROUD of his Soup! Served with Buckhorn Tri-Tip sandwiches on the side ! YUMM! It was a HIT !
