Ingredients

  • 1 1/8 cups water (70 to 80 degrees F)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In bread machine pan, place the first six ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
  2. Just before the final kneading (your machine may audibly signal this), add dates and walnuts.

Great! I mixed 1/4 c raisins and used almonds instead of walnuts, and it turned out wonderful.
