"This recipe was given to me by a friend to make for our annual Valentine's Day Heart Party a few years ago. The peppermint and chocolate are a flavorful combination." — Robin

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 drops red food coloring
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
5 (1.5 ounce) bars milk chocolate candy
I did not like the flavor at all. I was expecting a "peppermint patty" type flavor, but it wasn't at all.
These cookies were a little odd tasting with the mint, unless that is your thing, but probably wouldnt make them again
