This was amazing, we just had it on Christmas Eve. Now I am taking it to a New Years Eve get together. AWESOME!

I used chipped venison and this dish turned out wonderfully. I've served it at two get togethers now and received several compliments and folks asking for the recipe.

This recipe has been in our family since the 70's when I received my first crock pot. This recipe was in the pot recipe book. I love it just the way it is stated, but we also love dipping pumpernickel bread in it. Yum!!!!!!

Make sure you rinse off the chipped beef really really well before making this. I rinsed ours quickly thinking it would be enough but it wasn't. Ours was very salty... too salty actually to eat. Not quite my mother's recipe as I remember it. I'm giving it three stars because maybe it was some fault of my own that this was a flop. It did have the right texture and the cream sauce was wonderful before we added the meat. I'll try it again with well rinsed beef!

Not my favorite for sure. Yeah, it's simple, but the flavor is very single dimensional. Plus, I've already made chip beef (with a simple white sauce) for my family and they devour it, so they were really disappointed to have this! I took out the beef pieces of the leftovers and modified this to become a sauce for tilapia (added 1/2 & 1/2, melted butter, dill, seasoned salt and lemon juice) - that worked great.

This recipe seemed to have alot of potential. I did half the recipe which probably didn't help. We thought it tasted to much of cream cheese and we both like cream cheese. I love fondue and I love chipped beef and cream cheese so I think I will try again with a couple of changes. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Also...to anyone who thinks this is too salty...Dried Beef is cured in salt, so when using it you should rinse off all the pieces in cool water to remove alot of the salt...hope this helps.

This was more of a meal than an appetizer to my little family. They devoured the meal. I found it a tad salty so next time I will cut back on the salt but we will make this again in the future. I wasn't sure what dried beef was but by golly we found a plastic jar at the store filled with what looks like thinly sliced salami.
