I can't give this enough stars. I truly dislike bread pudding and got volunteered to make some for christmas brunch. I tried 3-4 of them before this one and still couldn't bring myself to like it. This one changed everything. Sweet, tart, breakfasty and desserty at the same time. Love it!

I love that this recipe uses fresh cranberries- it is delicious! I made a half batch and it still came out great. It tastes very good cold too, and I bet the custard sauce is wonderful, but I did not think it needed it so didn't make it(maybe next time!). Thanks for sharing this recipe, cranberry fans will love it! A little trick I like to use to mellow the cranberries for less cranberry crazy company is to cut them in half and let them sit in a couple tablespoons of the sugar called for(no need to add extra because I think the amount called for is perfect) before adding them.

This is the best bread pudding recipe. Before i tried this recipe i didn't like bread pudding. The first time i made it i followed the recipe. After that i changed it and used the dried cranberries instead because you can get them all year round and i like the taste better. And the sauce just puts it over the top. Enjoy :)

MMMMMM, so yummy! I did cut the recipe in half and had to improvise a little bit on the 'bread'. I used one that is an apple cinnamon type 'streusel' bread (not your healthiest grain choice!!). Based on using this sweeter bread and for a lack of time, I cut the sugar down a bit, and opted to leave the custard sauce off - though it sounds delightful! I used some fat free cool whip instead (truly no comparison I am sure). Excellent...love the zing of fresh cranberries paired with orange - they are a match made in heaven! This is a truly festive dish - how great at Christmas!

Really simple and so good! I used raisins in place of the cranberries and doubled the custard sauce and used freshly grated orange peel (about 3 oranges worth). Fantastic flavor, will be making again and again!

This was my first attempt at bread pudding and it was awesome. Suggestions: I used 2 loaves of Italian bread. I cut it the night before and let it get stale overnight. I had read in some other recipes this was an easy way to improve it. The other suggestion would be to really make sure all the top pieces are soaked or it will brown and get crispy in the oven. Overall it was great and I'm planning to make it for thanksgiving. By the way the entire pan was gone at the end of the evening! It fed 9 adults and two children easily.

I made this bread pudding last night and it was delicious! The best bread pudding I have ever had! I made my own topping instead of the orange custard sauce. I made it with powdered sugar, butter, and just a teas. brandy (with a little milk to thin). yumm!

I made this for my family's (brothers, sisters, spouses and kids) big get together on Dec. 26. There were 4 other desserts and this was definitely the star of the dessert table. The custard sauce is rich yet creamy and delicate. I wondered about the sugar sprinkled over the top, but it would not have been as good without it. The sugar forms a sweet crust which is especially good on the cranberries. I did increase the amounts of everything a bit because the pan I used is slightly bigger and I like a very full, dense pan of bread pudding. I also wanted a rich red look to it because I was making it as a holiday dessert. Fabulous and such a treat!
