Scrapple or mush has been a hearty breakfast staple in our family for generations. Heavily flavored with herbs, spices, onions and meat, it is a meal unto itself.

A jumbled, filling breakfast created when I was camping in Montana. Originally the hot dogs were roasted over a fire while the potato pieces were foil wrapped and roasted in the embers and then added into a pan of beans. However, it works equally well when cooked in a kitchen! Serve with crusty bread on the side and fresh shredded cheese on top.

If you like to bake in bulk, this recipe is for you. A small amount of cornmeal soaked in hot water turns to mush, which is incorporated with molasses and standard yeast bread ingredients to make several loaves of bread and quite a few dinner rolls.
