Found this recipe on a fishing expedition in All Recipes, and it piqued my curiosity. I love cloves, and had exactly zero recipes that really featured them. All other recipes are cookies or the like, using 1/4 teaspoon. . . I made it, intending to freeze it for a party on Sunday, but no one - - including me - - will stay out of it. My housemate has declared it to be the best cake she has ever tasted in her (58-year) life. It IS moist, and the outside IS crunchy. It would also be absolutely fanTAStic toasted - - but I haven't gotten around to that yet. If I have time to make another one for the Sunday party, I will probably drizzle just a tiny amount of glaze / icing over the top, for presentation. Call it "marketing." Enjoy! ! !
