1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 (10 ounce) package regular marshmallows
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

6 cups HOLIDAY RICE KRISPIES* cereal
Prepared green icing

Directions

In a large microwave safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes.
Stir in vanilla. Stir in KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal until well coated. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 3.5 L (13 x 9") pan.
Allow mixture to cool slightly. Using different shaped cookie cutters, cut cereal mixture into fun shapes. Decorate with icing and candy as desired.

Stove Top Method:
Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.

If you can't find Holiday Rice Krispies, Fruity Pebbles work just as well. My kids and I don't frost these because using the sugar cereal makes it sweet enough. I like using the French Vanilla snowmen marshmallows in this recipe.

Just made the Christmas Cut-Outs with the Grandchildren using French vanilla, pumpkin and gingerbread marshmallows in their respective batches. The vanilla extract is not necessary re:French vanilla marshmallows. The pumpkin and gingerbread marshmallows have a flavor of their own. I used an 18"x13" jelly roll pan and used a 1 cup metal measuring cup sprayed with cooking spray on the bottom to spread the mixture. Sprayed Christmas cookie cut-outs with cooking spray and cut out making sure that the cutter completely cuts through to the bottom of the pan. To my delight the cut-outs came out with the cutter which made the transfer to wax paper easy by carefully pushing out the treat. Definitely a 5 star for the fun with the kids and a tasty recipe.
