"This recipe is from years of searching for the perfect English tea sandwich. I always looked forward to tea time in the Caribbean with my grandparents who were from English descent. My grandmother was French and my grandfather was from Guyana. My grandfather's parents were from England, so there is the British influence. You can add a teaspoon of dill to your spread."

If I make this again,I’d definitely add the optional dill to the spread or maybe even a little lemon juice to keep if from tasting just like cream cheese out of the package (my personal taste preference kicking in here). Don’t skip the fresh basil leaf because it really does give you a nice pop of flavor and differentiates it from other cucumber-cream cheese tea sandwiches I’ve had.
