Chocolate Tres Leches Cake

By: KNUDSEN
"Tres Leches Cake, that favorite Mexican treat, gets a nice chocolate variation in this recipe that's easy because it uses a boxed cake mix. The cake is flavored with a sweet sauce of '3 milks' that's enriched with sour cream."

Original Recipe Yield 1 9x13-inch cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package (2-layer size) white cake mix
  • 4 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup KNUDSEN Sour Cream
  • 1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Directions

  1. Prepare cake batter and bake in 13x9-inch pan as directed on package. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes. Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.
  2. Melt 3 chocolate squares as directed on package; set aside. Blend milks and sour cream in blender until smooth. Add melted chocolate; blend well. Pour over cake, re-piercing cake if necessary until milk mixture is absorbed. Refrigerate 1 hour. Meanwhile, make curls from remaining chocolate square. (See Tip.)
  3. Frost cake with COOL WHIP; top with chocolate curls. Keep refrigerated.
