These were FANTASTIC! My daughter requested chocolate chip cupcakes for her 10th birthday (Today) and when I came across this recipe I had to show her and she agreed we just had to try it. I made the cookie dough last night and froze it over night. I cooked as recommended a total of 18 minutes and made them with yellow cake mix, they came out PERFECT. The whole family loved them and I can't wait to try these again. This made my daughters birthday extra special. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

I decided to make cupcakes for my favorite college class and I brought in a number of recipes for my friends to vote on to try, this won by a landslide. I followed the recipes instructions except that I used regular chocolate chips instead of mini ones. They were amazing and I recieved so many compliments. I'm making these again for a cookout next week, I may use the premade cookiedough just as a timesaver as someone suggested but I highly recommend this recipe!

This is a good cupcake. But, it is seriously not the BEST cupcake ever. Honestly, it wouldn't make a difference to me if it had cookie dough inside or not. If I didn't have a good homemade chocolate buttercream to go with it, they would be just sub-par. I followed the directions exactly, and even froze the cookie dough balls overnight, instead of only the 2 hours it recommended. It was really neat how the cookie dough ball sinks into the cupcake as it bakes, but the consistency of the cookie dough doesn't stay purely dough-y. It does "bake" in the tiniest bit, even with cookie dough frozen overnight. I probably won't make these again, but I will try the brownie batter kind (i.e. "2nd best cupcake ever") and see if perhaps that one lives up to its title! :)

These were OK but not as good as I expected them to be. Like another reviewer said it kind of just tasted like there was chocolate chips in the middle. Next time I will use 1/2 cup mini chips and put 1 1/2 teaspoon fulls of cookie dough in the middle. I also baked the left over cookie dough balls into mini cookies and put them on top of the cupcakes.

A fun and unique cupcake idea! I used a white cake mix and frosted them with creamy chocolate frosting (from this website). Yum!

This was good. Although I have to disagree, and say that we preferred the "second best cupcake" which has brownie batter in it. I found that it was hard to tell when the cake was done. However, it WAS good and it is definitely worth trying. I used Chocolate Marshmallow frosting from this site, which I think helped to make this cupcake. Given the choice again, I think I will make the brownie recipe over this one.

I made these for a birthday party and they were a huge hit! The only thing I did differently was use butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips. I baked for 16 minutes and they turned out perfectly. The cookie part was wonderfully gooey! I used the Buttercream II frosting recipe from this website. Sort of time consuming for cupcakes, but worth it for special occasions.

When I saw this recipe I had to try it for a work function. But I was short on time so I decided to take the easy way out. Normally, I'm completely against using pre made mixes but I literally had a few short hours in an evening to finish these. I used Pilsbury cookie dough. Rolled the dough into balls and froze for a couple hours. Then prepared one chocolate and one vanilla cake mix. Finished with vanilla icing, a mini cookie and large chocolate chip on top. It worked out perfectly! Next time I would definitely use my own home made cupcake recipe and favourite cookie dough but if you're short on time the pre made mixes tasted great! I would recommend using a slightly less sweet icing. Peanut butter or dark chocolate would be great!
