This was a very nice cheesecake that got lots of praise at a cherry-themed dinner party. A few changes: I used cherries in water from Trader Joe's - not nearly as sweet or artificial tasting as maraschino cherries, and a bit tart, which was a great counterpoint to the quite sweet filling. My boyfriend was skeptical of the cherry layer, so I set aside 1/3 of the filling and mixed that with the cherrys, and spread it over the crust, then put the 'plain' topping over that - so he could just eat the top if he wanted. I made sure to include a bit of cherry juice to make that layer quite pink - it actually made a pretty layered look, with a thick cherry layer along the bottom, and then the creamy white on top. And, I didnt have any shortening, but it didnt really matter. I couldnt quite drizzle the chocolate down the sides, but i just spread it on top and then drizzled the white on top and it looked gorgeous!

I made this cheesecake into little mini cheesecakes for a dessert party that I was hosting. It was the perfect holiday cheesecake. I did take out the pecans and put in mini chocolate chips instead, but otherwise followed the recipe. It was highly popular and I have had several requests for the recipe for others to make for Christmas dessert. I think this would also be a great dessert for Valentine's Day.

Cannot put down my fork! This is to die for. If you love chocolate, if you love cherries, if you love cheesecake, heck if you just love oreos-- you MUST give this a try. I did as some recommended and opted for the almond extract instead of the pecans- and I added a few sliced cherries on top. It turned out amazing. I did goof a little- forgot the eggs, had to scrape out my filling and add and redeposit it- still turned out great. I might have had tthe wrong size pan or something, too- because mine puffed up over the pan edges- then it sunk as it cooled- leaving a cheesecake rim-- I just put the chocolate in the middle. Delicious!

This cheesecake is so tasty. I made it for my Christmas party and all the guests enjoyed it. The texture of the cake was perfect, even though there were four bricks of cream cheese, it was not gooey. I omitted the nuts in case of allergies. It was fabulous!

AMAZING! I thought it was perfect i just added twice the amount of white chocolate on top cause I have a weakness for white chocolate. My fiance thought it was too rich but for any true cheesecake lover, this is perfect.

This cheesecake is excellent! The only things I opted to changed were to leave the pecans out and use crushed oreos for the crust. Will make this over and over again for special events! Great recipe.

Well... I intended to make this recipe the exact way it was in the recipe, but the store I went to didnt have Chocolate Wafers so I got Chocolate Grahams instead and I think the Cheesecake overpowered the crust. Maybe I will try oreos next time! I also took some of the juice from the cherries and stirred it in with the white chocolate drizzle for the top. It gave it more of a cherry flavor and the now pink drizzle made it more cherry like. Awesome flavor though. Not crazy about the pecans though. Will probably use the almond extract next time. Great recipe though. Thanks!

Wow, this was seriously good. Made just a couple adjustments...skipped the nuts and added a little bit of almond extract to the cheesecake. Then instead of the layer of chocolate on top, I made ganache (3/4 c. cream and 12 oz chocolate chips melted together) and spread that on top. It was the perfect amount cherry to chocolate ratio. LOVE it! Thank you for sharing!

This was on awesome recipe. I made it for Valentine's dinner. It was a great cheesecake. The only change I made was I did not rinse the cherries and I poured some of the cherry juice into the cheesecake batter to give it a more flavorful taste.
