Original recipe makes 2 -1/2 dozen cupcakes Change Servings


  1. Prepare Chocolate Bar Filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg and salt in small bowl until smooth and creamy. Stir in chocolate bar pieces.
  2. Heat oven to 350 F. Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper bake cups.
  3. Stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full with batter. Spoon 1 level tablespoon filling into center of each cupcake.
  4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in cake portion comes out clean. Remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Top each cupcake with chocolate bar piece. About 2-1/2 dozen cupcakes.

These are great! I stored them overnight in the fridge so they didn't get dry. I used 1.55 oz Hershey bars for filling and topping.

Do be careful not to overbake, they dry out quickly. I have made these twice, since the first time they were dry. They're something different from a usual cupcake, but I honestly didn't think they were great, just okay.

thes are great, you can also add the cream cheese filling on top insetad of in the centre and when they bake you get a cracked white and brown top

It's kind of hard to get the measurments (of the cupcakes) right the first time but once you do this is a positivly sinful double chocolate dessert.

This was a really nice cupcake. The key is to definatley not overbake so I suggest checking it around the 18 minute mark then continuing every minute or so if it's not done. Either that or lower the temp to 325. Trust's worth it!
