Excellent recipe- I was looking for a recipe that would remind me of what I often made in Germany, and this fit the bill! A couple of minor changes I made because I did not have all the ingredients on hand: I omitted the orange and used regular shortening instead of butter flavored. Also, I did not use the canned cherry pie filling found in stores, instead using some cherries still in thier juice given to me by our CSA. These were straight from the tree, but still worked great. To save time, I rolled the crust straight on the pan instead of on the counter. I will definitley be making this dessert again and again!

Love, love, love this recipe. So easy, even my 12 yr old makes it herself. When I take it to gatherings, its the first thing to disappear!
