Cherry Cobbler

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line the inside of a Dutch oven with aluminum foil.
  2. Spread cherry pie filling in an even layer into the bottom of the Dutch oven. Sprinkle cake mix over the pie filling; top with a layer of brown sugar. Dot the top with butter pieces. Put lid on the Dutch oven.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until the top is golden brown, 45 to 90 minutes.

  • If making this while camping, cook by putting Dutch oven atop hot charcoals and putting some hot coals on the lid of the oven.

Delicious !!!!! I made this last Sunday and loved it!! Took to work for lunch and coworker wanted to know what it was ! So I told her how easy it was to make and how yummy! Then I brought her in some and she was literally trying to lick the bowl she loved it so much !!! Gotta make it again this weekend. !!!

The flavor of this cobbler is really good;; however, I see a couple of problems with the recipe: 1) I see no need for the foil lining. It can shred and end up on your spoon. Use a prepared deep casserole dish instead; 2) The cooking time says "45 - 90 minutes?" Done times can be deceiving because you're using brown sugar, which is golden brown in color. This needs to be fine tuned and more narrowly defined. 3) The cake mix does not get cooked through, so you end up with unbaked dry cake mix throughout.
