I traded one can of potato soup for 1 can of cream of chicken...added red onions and a little garlic powder...oh, and avoided the parmesan cheese. Lastly, I cooked it a bit longer to brown more! This is a FABULOUS recipe and am now making it again, one week later!

This is so good. Made it as a side dish for a steak dinner. I used both ham and bacon and I also added onion that I fried to soften. This has a really nice flavor and was something different as a side. Thanks for sharing.

This is KILLER YUMMY comfort food!! I added chopped sautéed onion to mine cause I needed the onion with the other flavors. Also omitted the parmesan , but WOW, sooo good!! I've made a few times now and the first time I went into it thinking I might need to change the soup, but the cream of potato is perfect!

This was awesome! I made this for Christmas breakfast along with a french toast casserole from this site. It was so easy to prepare. I put everything together the night before and baked in the morning and it turned out fabulously. I did add cooked turkey bacon instead of ham, half cheddar soup and half potato soup (per the recommendation of other reviewers), chopped green onion, garlic, and mushrooms! The flavor was wonderful!

All of my children, husband and grandchildren liked this. It's a take on scalloped potatoes and ham, but a much easier version with the shredded potatoes I used. I didn't change a thing and I'm still amazed it doesn't need any additional ingredients...like salt and pepper. You won't go wrong if you put this in your recipe box. Christmas brunch was a success with this as one of the main stays. My picky eaters even liked it.

I usually have to make a main dish for church, and this dish goes faster than quick. I don't have left overs to bring home. Depending on what I want to taste that day, I modify the recipe to give it a little kick: exchange 1 can of mushroom for can of cream of onion. I have added green and red bell peppers. If I don't have ham I've used sausage or gone with out. I think it's the cheese that does the trick. I add just a little more. Also, if I don't have enough sour cream, I've added heavy whipping cream. Either way, this dish seems to go before all the other dishes. I've had people ask me for the recipe. It's so easy to prepare. Thanks for sharing.

I just finished making this recipe. It's easy and delicious. Looking at earlier reviews, common concerns were saltiness and lack of robust flavor. I decreased the Parmesan cheese to 1/2 cup, used honey glazed ham increasing to 1 pound and added 2 teaspoons of Penzey's Cajun seasoning. My husband has just finished his 2nd helping.
