I have made this cake several times and it has turned out excellent every time. The recipe is perfectly fine just as written. However, according to personal taste I have made the following changes with great results: 1)cut the sugar to one cup, half white half brown, 2)add half cup of raisins. With the addition of the raisins, one cup of sugar still yields a very sweet and moist cake. Fantastic recipe.
