Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar, divided
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chopped almonds

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar. Add flour and vanilla; mix well. Stir in almonds. Shape into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees F for 13-16 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown and cookies are set. Cool for 1-2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Roll in remaining confectioners' sugar.

Quick and tasty! As described, it does have an "old fashioned" flavor, but I did not find it...
