Butternut Apple Crisp Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 1)

Easy to make and it does have a different taste to it. But the people who tried it liked it. And it is something to use all that fall squash on. I never tried the original recipe - and of course rarely can I leave a recipe alone. But...... - put in in a 9x15 pan - double the crisp recipe and add 1/2 a cup of crushed pecan - in the filling recipe use 1 lb squash, 5 granny smith apples (cut small small small), 1/2 cup of white sugar (no brown), add 5 pieces of soft carmel candy, a dash a vanilla, and the original recipe's salt, cinnamon,&lemon - cook filling covered for 20 and then mix it - add the crisp on top and pat it down - cook covered for 35 min and uncovered for 15 - let cool and the crisp will harden

Delicious! I did use less squash and instead of an 8oz can of apple filling, i used 21oz. Also followed the advice of another review to add more flour/oats, but only used 1 cup of both. And about 1/3 cup sugar. and less lemon juice, 1 tablespoon.

Fantastic idea, though this recipe needs some work. First: only use one pound of squash or less. I had a small squash to four apples and it turned out just right. Second: at least double the flour and the oats (to 1 cup or more). leave the butter the same. Third: use way less lemon juice. maybe 1/2 tbsp. I didn't use pie filling, instead, four granny smiths and about 1/2 cup of sugar (okay fine, probably 3/4). Also, I put a 1/2 cup of sugar in the crumble.

No, I'm sorry; not yummy. I admit, I put slices of fresh apples w/ extra sugar instead of the canned apples; however, I don't see the end result being much different given the overwhelming amount of butternut squash which is rather bland with this recipe. This is an inferior version of apple crunch.

I brought this to a dinner party- everyone was raving about it all night! I was initially skeptical but now I know this is going to be one of my most frequently cooked desserts.

AWESOME! My family loved this and asked me to make it again. It's quick and simple to make. Made variation the second time using "carmel apple pie filing" versus regular apple pie filing. It was a great hit that way too!

I have made this recipe in the past for Thanksgiving and it is delicious. I wish I had thought of submitting it to allrecipes. ;-) I like this crisp, so I make double that part.
