Ingredients

  • 8 cups sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups baking cocoa
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups shortening

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

  • BROWNIE SNACK CAKE
  • 2 cups Brownie Mix

    3 eggs, separated

    3 tablespoons milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, egg yolks, milk and vanilla; mix well. In a small mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into the batter. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 9 servings.

  • FUDGE SAUCE
  • Prep/Total Time: 10 min.

    1 cup Brownie Mix

    2/3 cup water

    Ice cream

    Maraschino cherries, optional

    In a saucepan, bring the brownie mix and water to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over ice cream. Garnish with cherries if desired. Yield: about 1 cup.

  • WALNUT BROWNIES
  • Prep: 10 min. Bake: 35 min.

    4 cups Brownie Mix

    4 eggs

    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    1-1/3 cups chopped walnuts

    1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

    In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 2 dozen.
